Failure mechanism and control technology of high coal sides

Abstract: Abstract: In order to reveal and solve the large deformation of sensitive coal sides in high sides, dynamic pressure and gob-side entry retaining roadways, failure mechanism of coal sides in Huoerxinhe model was compression-shear failure under surroundings pressure, strong shearing zone in four corners and “C” shearing belt in sides. Top coal slipped inclined and largest deformation appeared in the middle of both sides. Hierarchical support was put forward, who means rock blot cooperating cable or injecting cable. Site experiment was carried out in west auxiliary transportation roadway. Monitoring data showed that side cables controlled the shearing slip of top sides; supporting effect was good with small deformation and roof separation.
